Clear Aligners- A Great Option for Adults

Have you thought about getting Clear Aligners but are not sure if they are right for you? Do you think you are too old to get your teeth corrected?

Many adults need to get their teeth straightened but believe they are too old to get them. Some are embarrassed to wear braces as an adult. However, there is no age limit for correcting crooked teeth or a poor bite! Getting crooked teeth fixed can change a person’s life. Today, with modern technology and Clear Aligners, there is no reason not to get the smile you want.

Here are some revealing results from a survey done by the American Association of Orthodontics:

  • Thirty-six percent of Americans, who are unhappy with their teeth, believe they would have a better social life if they had nicer-looking teeth.
  • Forty-eight percent of Americans ages 18-24 have untagged a picture of themselves on Facebook because they didn’t like their smile.
  • Seventy-seven percent of women think crooked teeth are worse than a receding hairline in a potential love interest.
  • On a business level, 78 percent of Americans perceive adults with crooked teeth to be unsuccessful.

How Clear Aligners Work

At Christensen Dental, we use Prime Scan’s advanced technology to design SureSmile® Aligners. We create Clear Aligners to fit comfortably and deliver the exact tooth movements needed to achieve your ideal smile.

Clear Aligners have made orthodontic treatment less obvious while moving teeth and aligning jaws to create a healthy, beautiful smile.

SureSmile Clear Aligners are a series of plastic aligners created using your teeth’s digital scans as the starting point. The aligners are plastic replicas of your teeth. Wearing them puts gentle pressure on the teeth, ever-so-slightly repositioning them over time. You wear each set of aligners for a week or two before going to the next stage (your next set of aligners). Over time, teeth reach their ideal clinical alignment.

Four Easy Steps:

The first three steps prepare you for your custom-made aligners. Then, the last step you put on your first set of SureSmile aligners!

1.    Consultation:

The first step is scheduling an orthodontic consultation with one of our dentists. They will assess if you are a candidate for SureSmile® Aligners.

2.    Prime Scan Digital Scan:

Your doctor will take a digital scan of your mouth using Prime Scan.  Prime Scan is the state-of-the-art technology in dental digital scanning. It produces several images of your teeth in seconds. The data is quickly processed, in perfect sharpness, and with outstanding precision. When uploaded to our SureSmile software, our dentists can assess how clear aligners will best work for you, creating your unique treatment plan.

3.    Digital Lab and Treatment Planning:

Once your doctor has submitted your case and images to the digital lab, clinical experts assess each tooth for optimal movement to achieve your ideal smile. The precision of SureSmile® software combined with the Digital Lab’s clinical expertise ensures the right amount of force at the right time to the right tooth. The results are better alignment, greater comfort, & faster treatment times.

4.    Treatment:

Your journey to a fabulous smile begins back in the dental office when you try on your first set of SureSmile aligners. After wearing your clear aligners and following your treatment plan, you will quickly notice that your clear aligners are comfortable and easy to wear. Also, they are virtually invisible, and your friends and family won’t even see you’re wearing them!

The benefits of straight teeth are more than just a pretty smile.

Did you know that misaligned teeth can lead to oral health problems? It’s true. Crooked or crowded teeth and any bite issues left uncorrected often make oral care and hygiene difficult. Misaligned teeth and improper bites can sometimes lead to:

  • Tooth damage and chipping
  • Tooth loss
  • Wearing away of tooth enamel
  • Difficulty chewing or speaking

Benefits of straightening your teeth may include:

  • Reduced risk of cavities
  • Help prevent gum disease
  • Improve confidence
  • And of course, improve your smile
