Dental Implants in Henderson, NV

A dental implant is a screw-like surgical component that is placed in your jawbone to provide support to the prosthetics, such as a crown. An implant acts as an artificial tooth root and provides a strong foundation to the replaced prosthetic tooth. The success rate of a dental implant is up to 98%, and with proper maintenance, it can last for a lifetime. There is hardly any pain involved in the procedure since you will be given local anesthesia.

Benefits of a Dental Implant

  • They help improve your overall self-esteem and confidence.
  • Implants improve the appearance of your smile.
  • They function and look exactly like your natural teeth.
  • They are highly durable, comfortable, and convenient.
  • Dental implants improve your overall dental health.

How Are Dental Implants Placed?

The overall structure of a dental implant consists of 3 main components- the implant, the crown, and the abutment, which is a connector that supports the crown. During the procedure, you will be given local anesthesia as well as sedatives to make your experience pain-free and much more comfortable.

During the initial diagnosis, our dentist will conduct a thorough screening of the teeth, gums, jawbone, and overall health. If you have any pre-existing health conditions, please do disclose them to our dentist so that we are well aware of them before commencing with the treatment. Scans and digital x-rays will be taken to be used as a reference to fabricate the restoration and understand the jawbone structure.

Further, we will share this data with a dental laboratory to get the restoration made. We will administer local anesthesia during the next appointment and make a small hole in the jawbone in place of the missing tooth. The metal implant stud will be placed in this hole and secured with dental cement. We will advise a few months of healing period so that the bone can integrate with the implant.

Once the implant is firmly secured, the second surgery will be carried out to place the crown on the implant. We will check for a suitable fit and comfort and then secure it firmly using a connecting abutment and dental adhesives. We will polish the crown and take a bite test to ensure the restoration is fixed perfectly in place.

Aftercare

Dental implants ideally last for several years without any hassle, making them one of the most reliable and longest-lasting restorations. But, it is necessary for patients to care for them optimally by brushing and flossing regularly, avoiding biting hard objects, limiting the consumption of colored foods, etc.
