Orthodontic clear aligners in Henderson, NV

Malocclusion can be caused due to various reasons such as heredity, external trauma, diseases, poorly fitted prosthetics, and childhood habits like excess usage of pacifiers, thumb sucking, etc. Orthodontics is a branch in dentistry that treats malocclusion by using various dental appliances such as:

Metal braces

These are orthodontic devices used to treat misaligned teeth and improve a person’s dental health. They consist of metal wires, metal brackets, and elastic bands. Metal braces have been used to treat malocclusion for many years now and are the most sought-after option.

Ceramic braces

These are similar to metal braces, except the brackets in ceramic braces are almost transparent or tooth-colored. These are suitable for individuals who are conscious of visible braces.

Clear Aligners (Invisalign)

These are clear alignment trays that are widely used to treat several malocclusion problems. These cause less pain and discomfort than braces and the treatment period is also short.

What are Clear Aligners (Invisalign)?

Invisalign is an orthodontic aligner that is used to treat a malocclusion. These are alignment trays made up of clear plastic and look similar to the mouthguards that sportspersons wear. Invisalign is suitable for all age groups as it is a more convenient and painless option than braces. There are many reasons why you should choose Invisalign over metal or ceramic braces. Such as:

  • Due to its transparent nature, Invisalign stays in disguise.
  • There are minimum chances of getting injured because Invisalign is made up of plastic, unlike metal braces that consist of metal wires and brackets.
  • Your entire progress is closely monitored as Invisalign is fabricated with advanced technology.
  • You can take Invisalign off while eating, so you do not have to compromise on certain foods.
  • You can brush and floss normally with Invisalign as you can take them off. This promotes better oral health, which is unlikely with braces.

The Procedure of Invisalign Treatment

When you come in for your initial consultation, we will conduct a thorough analysis of your mouth to check the type and severity of malocclusion that you are suffering from. We will take an x-ray and a few scans of your mouth that will be used to create your personalized Invisalign in the laboratory. It will take a few days to manufacture your aligners.

Once we have received your Invisalign from the laboratory, you will be scheduled for an appointment. We will check the Invisalign for perfect size and fit in your mouth and then hand over your aligners to you along with the instructions to wear them. Generally, patients have to wear Invisalign for at least 22 hours per day. Your trays will be changed after every 2-3 weeks to continue moving the teeth.

You must not eat anything while wearing the Invisalign or bring it close to hard foods because they can change their shape.
